Depression Information

Depression is a very serious illness that affects more than 19 million Americans over the age of 18.  Depression is not a sign of personal weakness and is one of the most treatable of psychiatric illnesses.  Statistically, depression affects women about twice as frequently as men.  Depression is an illness that affects a person’s physical health as well as how that person thinks, feels, and acts toward others.  Depression can sometimes interfere with every major aspect of someone’s life.  In severe cases of depression, the ability to function in social or job situations becomes severely diminished or even non-existent.
